Nellie Shaw – Managing Director
I didn’t mean to be an accountant, I just kinda fell into it. 35 years on, with an accounting degree and teacher’s diploma picked up along the way, I’ve worked in two schools and for a service provider. So you can be confident I know schools.
What I love about working in schools is that as an accountant, it isn’t just about sums and numbers. It’s working with people who want to do the best for their school and who care about the children and staff they work with. Yes, we provide you with your financial reports, but this job also allows us to help our clients in other ways. It give us the chance to teach skills ranging from basic accounts to spreadsheeting to the best way to use your accounting programmes to how to read and analyse a report. That’s what makes my job so great and yes, sometimes challenging, and I love it.
Elise Wells – Accountant
I’ve worked in the school accounting industry for over five years. Starting as an accounts assistant while studying, I completed my accounting degree and moved to an accountant role.
Prior to this, I worked in the hairdressing industry for seven years, so I am experienced in working with a diverse range of clients. Two completely different professions but meeting my clients’ needs is common to both and something that I always strive to achieve.
I have three young children at home, so the flexibility that working with schools provides me and my family is an added bonus.
Stephanie Shaw – Administration
I’ve worked for ten years in administration and customer service roles across multiple industries. No matter the industry, the best part of admin is being able to help people and hopefully make their jobs a little bit easier!

Outside of Ask Accounting, I am currently studying for my vet nursing qualification as I have a love for providing care for animals and people. I have much too many pets (three dogs and two cats!) so I’m always keen to swap pet photos!
